NORTHERN LIVES IN MY MIND PART ONE
NORTHERN LIVES IN MY MIND*
PART ONE
I write to execrate my feelings on the hideous killings that presidently happening in the North and Nigeria at large...
But before I go into details, "I would like to refresh our memories upon all the series of vicious incident happening in the North since existence of democracy in Nigeria"
First was Boko Haram which was founded in 2002 by Muhammad Yusuf in Maiduguri, their insurgency began in 2009, when the jihadist group started an armed rebellion against the government of Nigeria. ... Boko Haram's initial uprising failed, and its leader Mohammed Yusuf was killed by the Nigerian government.
Second was the series of illicit protest carried on by the group of Shia since after the Zaria massacre which was carried out by the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, on Saturday, 12 December 2015, against Shia muslims, mostly members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. The Army claimed that it had responded to an attempt to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
Then again was Fulani herdmen which On 16 December 2018, attacked a village in Jema'a, killing 15 people and injuring at least 24 others, the attack occurred at a wedding ceremony. On 11 February 2019, an attack on an Adara settlement named Ungwar Bardi by suspected Fulani gunmen killed 11. This was how they continue with their activities until their mission failed.
Further more a group to be Unconnected to Boko Haram insurgency known as Bandit came into existence. Banditry violence began as a farmer/herder conflict in 2011 and intensified between 2017 to 2018 to include cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, sexual violence and killings. Rural banditry in northwestern Nigeria also derives impetus from the poorly governed mining and small arms sector. Bandits have been drawn to the region by illicit and artisanal mining in states like Katsina, Sokoto, and more especially Zamfara where bandits have been raiding mining sites for gold and cash.
My questions Are:
I. Why always North?
II. Who are the people behind these evils plans!
III. Is government to be blame or Northerners?
IV. How can tackle the issues of insecurity in the North?
V. Shall we rely on government alone?
In my own opinion as patriotic citizen of Nigeria, I will respond to question three.
If you may ask me, I would say both the Government and the Northerners are to blame with the following point of mine:
One of the important duty of the government towards their citizens is to protect lives and properties of their citizens, which they failed immensely. The tremendous effort shown by the federal government in tackling Covid-19 epidemic is highly commendable but if the same actions could be taken to insecurity in the Country, Boko Haram and any form of insurgency could have been history...
When it comes to Northerners, negligence of some primary responsibilities by most of the parents and leaders of the North can to the major factors affecting the well being of the people in the North. For instance, majority of the insurgencies that are happening in the North are been carried by the Northern youths. The hoodlums lack improper upbringing that is why they were able to be brain wash by the people behind all the evil plans because they have no magnitude and directions...
In conclusion, I plead those that came across this writes up to help me with the remaining four questions that are not being answer and also an observations if there is any so that I will include them in the subsequent the article, and lastly pray to Almighty Allah to bring an end to Boko Haram and Banditry in Nigeria.
